Creswick and Daylesford

On Saturday I tried a small dam that I had been told about in a pine plantation near creswick, I spent several hours casting lures and bait catching around 20 redfin with the bait accounting for all the catches. the largest fish caught was only around 25cm but i had been told of some 2lb fish coming out of the dam recently. Sunday i took my 2 girls kayaking on lake Daylesford and took a rod with me. We spent 3 hour on the water and i caught around 20 redfin with 10 or so around 25cm or larger, with 2 fish reaching 35cm.

Local streams

I spent a few hours fishing the Campaspe on the weekend and caught 12 redfin with 6 between 25cm and 30cm long. Seemed a little slower than usual but remained consistent with regular catches over the session. I also managed an hour fishing a section of deep creek in Bulla, catching 2 redfin with one measuring about 35cm which was hooked near my feet after following a squidgy in with another similarly sized fish beside it. The second was closer to 25cm.

Maribyrnong

I went fishing for a couple of hours on sunday arvo near the explosives factory on the Maribyrnong river using prawns for bait. I caught over 20 bream with at least 10 over 20cm and 3 closer to 30cm.
Probably one of the better bream sessions I have had and a great example of a local Melbourne location where you can catch good fish without travelling too far.
