Winters end

I have a bit of an inflamed tendon in my wrist at the moment so the last few weeks I didn't try to do much fishing or anything, but I did check out the 4X4 and fishing show last weekend and saw Paul Worstling do a Q&A and picked up a few half price lures and things. I also got an outrigger for the kayak and some railblaza gear to kit up some extra bits on it. I went for a drive Saturday to Kyneton to see how much water was flowing down the Campaspe river and cast a lure for a few minutes managing to hook a small redfin. Sunday I took the kids and my dad to Nagambie and we dropped in a few cray pots but only managed to get 4 crays and they all went back.

The same stretch of water as the last cray trip but several meters higher water level.

Corio bay flathead

I had a kayak out on Corio bay today seeing as the wind was nearly non existent and I had my best luck yet. I was out for a little over 3 hours and drifted in from the channel markers off rippleside a few times and then made several drifts across the area from the old jetty to the public one. I didn't keep an accurate tally of catches but i think i caught 13 or 14 flathead and 2 wrasse, mostly on blue bait. I ended up taking home 4 fish which ended up being a good amount to have a feed.
