not much luck

I spent the last two Friday arvo's after work trying to catch a trout from a small pool on the Jackson's creek. I spooked him the first day before I had a chance to get a bait to him and then hooked him twice on the second attempt last week but dropped him both times. I may try again tomorrow after work if I am early enough finishing. I also spent a few hours on Anzac day fishing Eppalock from a mates small tinny but neither of us got so much as a nibble from our three and a half hours on the water.

blocked in by rocks till the water rises
crystal clear water in the pool, only a foot or two deep

Coliban river

I tried a new spot today that had been suggested by a friend this week near Metcalf on the Coliban river. there was a little bit af water flowing and some nice large pools in the area but i managed to catch two nice redfin from a very small pool surrounded by rock. After about 10 casts or so and a couple of timid nibbles i hooked both fish in consecutive casts. I also spent a few hours yesterday going to pick up a sit on top fishing kayak so I hope to have a few pics of that soon once I take it out for a paddle.

local waters

The last couple of days have seen some nice warm afternoons so i have tried some lure fishing at the back of melton reservoir and at pykes creek reservoir, though no fish from either location. I did see several very small redfin follow my lure in to the edge but no strikes. Today i also walked a section of the Werribee river between Ballan and Myrniong casting some unweighted scrub worms into the pools that showed a bit of promise. I managed to hook one nice brown trout about 35cm in length and snapped a pic before releasing him again.
